The Newcastle Christian Library is the legacy of Father Bernard Kennedy. He envisaged a library “for the public generally and with an aim to present a source of wholesome literature.”

The trust is managed by three trustees.

The Newcastle Christian Library initially began operating in 1983 from a house at 163 Parry Street Hamilton. The library was originally staffed by volunteers.

The Newcastle Christian Library merged with the Catholic Schools Office Resource Centre in the year 2010 to become the St Laurence Centre Library.

The Newcastle Christian Library now operates under the title St Laurence Centre Library. All are welcome!
